Reward Offered for Serial Bank Robbers

The Philadelphia Division of the FBI and the Philadelphia Police Department are requesting the public’s assistance to identify and locate the subjects responsible for at least three armed bank robberies in Philadelphia since August 12, 2009, and announces that a reward of up to $10,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of these subjects.

These subjects are believed to be responsible for the robberies of the St. Edmonds Bank branch at 5873 Ridge Avenue on August 12, 2009, the Citizens Bank branch at 7248 Rising Sun Avenue on September 11, 2009, and the Wachovia Bank branch at 6918 Ridge Avenue on September 28, 2009. The first robbery was committed by a single subject who entered the bank and presented a threatening demand note indicating that he had a gun, the second robbery was committed by two subjects who entered the bank and threatened that they had guns while a third subject waited at the door, and in the third and most recent robbery one of the two subjects who entered the branch brandished a black semi-automatic handgun, physically assaulted a female teller, and ordered all of the employees down to the floor before fleeing with cash. In the first robbery, the subject was seen fleeing in the passenger seat of a silver sedan driven by a second subject.

All of the subjects are described as black males in their mid to late 20’s, tall, with thin builds. The subjects have worn Pittsburgh Pirates baseball caps, dark hooded sweatshirts, and scarves or bandanas over their faces in the robberies. At least one of the subjects had a beard and mustache during the robberies, and wore large dark sunglasses with thick gold frames.

These subjects are considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 215-418-4000 or the Philadelphia Police Department. Tipsters may remain anonymous.

Five pictures from the Wachovia and St. Edmonds robberies are attached.
