Armed Robber Fails to Open Account Before Making a Withdrawal
The FBI is requesting the assistance of the public to identify the individual alleged to be responsible for the robbery of the National Penn Bank located at 9 West Evergreen Ave, Philadelphia, PA, on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at approximately 12:35 p.m.
The subject is described as a black male, between 35 to 45 years old, approximately 5' 9" to 5' 11" tall with a heavy build and a beard. He was wearing a dark baseball hat, grey T-shirt, dark jeans, and carried a duffle bag over his shoulder.
The robber initially entered the bank and inquired about opening an account. He then left, only to return approximately a half hour later to pull out a handgun and announce he was robbing the bank. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled from the area. There were no injuries.
