Special Agent Bismarck is a one-and-a-half year-old
German Shepherd mix who works as an Explosives Detection
Canine (EDC) in the Philadelphia Division. Bismarck
and his handler Senior Division Bomb Technician Mike
Baker have successfully completed the 400 hour EDC
course at the Philadelphia Police Department Canine
Training Unit in January, 2003. Bismarck also passed
his United States Police Canine Association Certification
in January, 2003. Bismarck is assigned to the Joint
Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), SQ-12.
Bismarck is the second EDC in the Philadelphia Division.
Bismarck is tasked to perform bomb sweeps in support
of the JTTF. Bismarck loves to train because when he
makes a find, he gets to play with his favorite toy.
Finding explosives is a game for Bismarck and he knows
that when he makes a correct find its playtime. Bismarck
trains every day to keep up his skills.
In his off-duty time Bismarck loves to go for runs
and go swimming with his handler.
Personal Message - Bismarck says, " Never play
or touch explosives, if you see them call the police
and report them."
FBI Philadelphia would like to extend its' gratitude
to Police Officer Paul Bryant and the Philadelphia
Police Department Canine Unit for providing the training
for both Bandit and Bismarck.
