Additional Charges and Additional Defendants Added to Hobbs Act Robbery Case

PHILADELPHIA—A 17-count superseding indictment was filed today charging defendants Lukner Rene, Jonathan Moman, Gregory Pitt, Devon Brinkley, Kebrum Teklu, and Divonne Pitt with conspiracy to interfere with interstate commerce by robbery, interference with interstate commerce by robbery and aiding and abetting, and carrying and use of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, announced United States Attorney Michael L. Levy and FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Janice Fedarcyk. Teklu is currently a fugitive. This indictment includes the 14 original charges filed against Rene, Moman, and Pitt in January 2009. The charges arise out of the defendants’ participation in eight armed robberies of Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, and Delancey Street Bagels restaurants in Philadelphia and suburban communities including Upper Darby, Radnor, Devon, and Wynnewood, between October 10, 2008 and October 19, 2008.

If convicted of all charges, each defendant faces a total maximum sentence of life in prison, up to five years' supervised release, a $4,500,000 fine, and a $1,800 special assessment.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Philadelphia Police Department, Upper Darby Police Department, Lower Merion Police Department, and the Tredyffrin Township Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Salvatore L. Astolfi.
