Philadelphia Men Indicted on Armed Robbery Charges

PHILADELPHIA—United States Attorney Michael L. Levy and District Attorney Lynne Abraham today announced the filing of a three-count indictment charging Christopher Martin and Quintrell Reynos with conspiracy to commit robbery which interferes with interstate commerce; robbery which interferes with interstate commerce; and using and carrying a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence.

According to the indictment, Martin and Reynos, each carrying firearms, committed an armed robbery of Ed’s Pizza House, located at 6047 Ogontz Avenue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which interfered with interstate commerce, on the night of August 18, 2009. The indictment charges that during the course of the armed robbery multiple gunshots were fired; one shot was fired in the direction of a responding police officer, before the suspects were apprehended by police attempting to escape from the rear of the establishment. According to the indictment, the suspects possessed a Stallard Arms 9mm pistol, with an obliterated serial number, loaded with two live rounds, double fed into the chamber, and two rounds in the magazine; and a Ruger rifle, Model #10, .22 caliber with no magazine and one round in the chamber, bearing serial number 127-00268, during the course of the robbery.

This indictment is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, an initiative by the United States Attorney’s Office, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, the Philadelphia Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and other federal law enforcement agencies to identify and prosecute firearms offenders in federal court, where the defendants are likely to receive a substantial sentence upon conviction­. Defendants Martin and Reynos each face a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a mandatory minimum, consecutive term of 10 years' imprisonment for discharge of a weapon during a crime of violence, five years' supervised release, a $750,000 fine, and a $300 special assessment.
