East Petersburg Man Sentenced for Transporting and Possessing Child Pornography
PHILADELPHIA—Patrick Bunty, 56, of East Petersburg, PA, was sentenced today to 46 months in prison for two counts of transportation of child pornography, and one count of possession of child pornography, announced United States Attorney Michael L. Levy. Bunty pleaded guilty to the charges in November 2008. Bunty was detained on January 27, 2006, by Customs Officials at the Philadelphia International Airport after returning to the United States from a business trip to England. Upon inspecting his baggage agents discovered a floppy disk that contained child pornography depicting unclothed prepubescent girls, posed in explicit positions and exhibiting their genitals. The same child pornography images were found on a thumbdrive in a directory entitled “young,” that was also found in Patrick Bunty’s possession on that date. At the time these images were discovered by federal agents, Patrick Bunty had been sentenced just two weeks prior in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, for his conviction of corrupting the morals of a minor.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the United States Attorney’s Office. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Rotella.
