Southampton Man Charged with Multiple Bank Robberies
PHILADELPHIA - United States Attorney Michael L. Levy today announced the filing of a ten-count superseding indictment charging Anthony F. DiPietro with armed bank robbery and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
The indictment charges that the defendant committed the following five bank robberies at gunpoint: the September 14, 2006 robbery of the Citizen's Bank, at 1881 Street Road in Bensalem; the January 29, 2007 robbery of the First Service Bank, at 2460 Bristol Road in Bensalem; the July 25, 2008 robbery of the Willow Financial Bank, at 761 Huntingdon Pike in Huntingdon Valley; the September 18, 2008 robbery of the Univest Bank, at 40 East Street Road in Feasterville; and, the October 8, 2008 robbery of the Citibank, at 620 Commerce Blvd., in Fairless Hills.
If convicted of all charges, the defendant faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a mandatory minimum sentence of 107 years imprisonment, a $2,500,000 fine, and a $1,000 special assessment.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Lower Southampton Township, Bensalem Township, Falls Township, and Abington Township Police Departments. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Thomas P. Swanton.
