Philadelphia Man Charged with Drug Trafficking
United States Attorney Laurie Magid today announced the filing of a four-count indictment charging Fredrick Clinkscales with possession with intent to distribute cocaine base (“crack”), possession with intent to distribute crack within 1,000 feet of a school, using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The indictment alleges that, on February 10, 2009, Clinkscales committed the charged crimes within 1,000 feet of the James J. Sullivan Elementary School at 5300 Ditman Street in Philadelphia. Clinkscales, a convicted felon, is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
This indictment is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, an initiative by the United States Attorney’s Office, District Attorney’s Offices in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Philadelphia Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies, to identify and prosecute firearms offenders in federal court, where the defendants are likely to receive a substantial sentence upon conviction.
