Carbon County Drug Trafficker Sentenced to 100 Months in Prison
Martin C. Carlson, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced that a 22-year-old man who participated in a Carbon County-based drug trafficking conspiracy was sentenced today by U.S. District Court Judge James M. Munley to serve 100 months in prison.
Carlson stated that Juan Hiraldo, who went by the street name “Tim,” pleaded guilty in July 2008 to conspiracy to distribute more than five grams of crack cocaine and more than 500 grams of cocaine. The conspiracy operated in both Carbon and Lehigh Counties during 2004 and 2005.
Hiraldo was charged as a result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police. Hiraldo was one of twenty people charged in the case. All of the defendants have entered guilty pleas to drug charges.
Judge Munley also ordered Hiraldo to be placed on four years of supervised release after serving his prison sentence. Hiraldo must also pay a $100 special assessment.
Carlson noted that the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa.
