Philadelphia Armed Robbery Charges
Acting United States Attorney Laurie Magid today announced the filing of a three-count Indictment 1 against Michael H. Lauer for the armed robbery of the Grocery and Convenience Store located at 1226 Tasker Avenue in Philadelphia on February 24, 2008. The indictment also charges Lauer with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Under federal law, convicted felons are prohibited from possessing firearms. The indictment alleges that on February 24, 2008, Lauer brandished a Harrington & Richardson, .32 caliber six shot revolver when he robbed the store.

If convicted the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of life imprisonment, including a mandatory twenty-two year sentence, a $750,000 fine and five years supervised release.
The case was investigated by the Philadelphia Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Alicia M. Freind.
